Kate graduated university with a degree in Psychology with Cognitive Science before heading into a career in teaching. She now has over 30 years experience in education and training, having worked as a numeracy consultant, a local authority trouble-shooter in failing schools, before taking up headship herself. In the case of the latter she oversaw the establishment of a new school and led it to be categorised as ‘outstanding in all areas’ by OFSTED at the first attempt.
In 2017, having decided to take a career break, Kate became a founding Trustee and facilitator of the mental health charity ‘Invincible Me’, supporting schools in developing strategic, sustainable approaches to mental health for the whole school community. This work led her to develop her own consultancy and become a Mental Health First Aid England trainer. She is also a founding Trustee of Apples and Honey Nightingale – the UK’s first nursery to be run on the grounds of a care home. More recently, during the coronavirus pandemic, Kate trained, and now works as, a volunteer for the 24/7 crisis helpline SHOUT to support people in crisis.

Work with AFT:
Kate first met AFT’s Founder and Director back in 2019 when Kate led her through her Adult Mental Health First Aid Course. They hit it off and together facilitated what started as a one off Adult Mental Health Awareness Course for the AFT community in April 2020…
This has since grown and Kate has now led over 600 people (and counting) through their mental health awareness or mental health first aid certificate at a hugely discounted rate through AFT. Kate is also collaborating with AFT on creating Mental Health and Well-being Schemes and Consultancy for some of the UK’s top theatre production companies.
